How To Draw An Axe
Step 1 – Find an image of an axe that you would like to replicate and print it out, or draw it on a piece of paper.
Step 2 – Break the axe down into basic shapes to get an idea of what you need to draw. Look for circles, ovals, lines and squares to make the job easier.
Step 3 – Sketch out the handle of the axe using a pencil and lightly draw a long line to represent the handle of the axe.
Step 4 – Draw a circle at one end of the long line to form the base of the head of the axe.
Step 5 – From the circle, draw a triangle that is angled slightly inward, creating a slanted edge at the front of the axe head.
Step 6 – Draw a second triangle that is slightly larger and angled outward, creating the second edge of the axe head.
Step 7 – Draw a line connecting the tops of the two triangles to create the back of the axe head.
Step 8 – Draw two curved lines that connect the two edges of the axe head to the base of the handle, creating the shape of the blade.
Step 9 – Draw two lines that connect the back of the axe head to the base of the handle.
Step 10 – Draw a line across the bottom of the axe head that is slightly curved to form the cutting edge.
Step 11 – Draw two curved lines connecting the back of the axe head to the base of the handle.
Step 12 – Draw a line across the bottom of the axe head that is slightly curved to form the cutting edge.
Step 13 – Add details to the handle and blade of the axe including jagged edges, rivets and other details.
Step 14 – Erase any unnecessary lines or outlines that you may have drawn.
Step 15 – Outline the axe by tracing over your existing lines with a pen or marker.
Step 16 – Shade the axe using a pencil to create different tones on the blade and handle of the axe.
Step 17 – Add highlights to the blade and handle of the axe using a white colored pencil or gel pen
