How To Draw A Tornado

Step 1 Gather the materials you need for your drawing. This includes a pencil, eraser, and a piece of paper.

Step 2 Begin by drawing a sideways spiral in the center of the paper. This will be the core of the tornado.

Step 3 Extend the spiral outward, making sure to keep the lines curved and symmetrical.

Step 4 Draw a series of curved lines extending outward from the center spiral. These lines should curve around the spiral and intersect with one another to form a tornadolike shape.

Step 5 Once you have the shape of the tornado, go back over the lines with a darker pencil to make them more defined.

Step 6 Start shading in the tornado, making sure to keep the shading dark and consistent. The darkest part should be in the center, and the shading should get lighter the further out you go.

Step 7 To add more definition to the tornado, use an eraser to lightly erase some of the shading. This will give the tornado more texture and depth.

Step 8 Outline the tornado with a dark pencil to make it stand out from the background.

Step 9 Add some clouds above and around the tornado.

Step 10 Add a few lightening bolts coming from the clouds.

Step 11 Add some grass and trees in the foreground.

Step 12 Add some raindrops coming from the clouds.

Step 13 Add some more clouds in the background.

Step 14 Add some wind lines coming from the tornado.

Step 15 Add some finishing touches, such as birds or other details, to make your drawing come alive.
